At Skip the Box Office our primary business is to provide event publishing and promotion, ticketing and related services to event coordinators, promoters, event attendees, customers and all other users of SkipTheBoxOffice.ca.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it


Personal Data

When you create an account to either purchase or sell tickets on our website we collect some basic personal information. This includes a username, as well as an email address. In order to operate Skip the Box Office and provide you with information on products and services that may be of interest to you, we may collect “contact information” (i.e., information that could be used to contact you such as full name, postal address, phone number and email address as well as your computer’s unique IP address if any.

We do not directly collect your financial information.  All transactions including, credit card transactions are processed through a secure and encrypted third-party processor. You can review their privacy policy here.

Please note that nowhere on the Site do we knowingly collect contact information or financial information from children under the age of 13.

Use Of Information

While you are on our website, we collect information regarding the pages within our network which you visit and what you click on. As a general rule we do not collect sensitive information. However, if we do, it will usually be for the purposes of providing our goods or services and if the law requires us to, we will seek your consent to collect it.

Your information is used to ensure we provide our services to you, to fulfill administrative functions associated with these services. Your contact details may be used to contact you to inform you of important information related to event tickets you have purchased. For example, you may be contacted if there is a change to the time or venue for an event or in the case an event is canceled.

As an event coordinator or promoter where your personal information is contained within an advertisement or ticket purchase form which we publish for you, we may also use your information for publication of that same advertisement in other media, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the initial publication.

If you have registered a Skip the Box Office account with us, we will hold your contact and billing details. Those details are primarily used to provide you with the ticketing services you have requested, and to send you information about the Skip the Box Office platform, any upgrades that become available, new developments and forthcoming features and to charge you for service fees in relation to tickets you have acquired through the Skip the Box Office platform.

If you have booked or registered for events that are listed by an event coordinator or promoter using Skip the Box Office and the Skip the Box Office platform, we keep a record of your booking data to report to the event coordinator or promoter. Your booking data will be provided to the event coordinator or promoter if requested for their records and analysis. This booking data includes your personal contact details, not your personal credit card or sensitive financial information.

Your personal information will never be sold to advertisers or third-parties.

Use By Event Coordinator or Promoter

Your personal contact information including name, address, email,  and telephone number is provided to the event coordinator or Promoter from the time of purchase. This information will be used primarily for event check-in purposes or to provide you with information and offers about future events directly from the venue operator and/or promoter(s) of the event.

Event coordinators or promoters will use your personal information in accordance with their own privacy policies and laws. If the event coordinator or promoter contacts you and you wish to unsubscribe from this communication or have any questions regarding their privacy policy you should contact the event coordinator or promoter directly.


Skip the Box Office strives to ensure the security, integrity, and privacy of personally identifiable information of our customers. We use a variety of physical and electronic security measures to keep personal information secure from misuse, loss or unauthorized use or disclosure. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be totally secure.

Access to Personal Information

You have a right to access most personal information we hold about you and if we deny access in some circumstances we will tell you why. To request access, please contact us at info@skiptheboxoffice.ca


When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.


If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

If you choose to contact Skip the Box Office using our contact form, please be aware that your name, email address, subject, and message are captured and stored in our system for a period of no more than one year from the time it is submitted. This data is retained for customer service purposes but Skip the Box Office does not use the information submitted to contact forms for marketing purposes.


If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.


Skip the Box Offices utilizes Google Analytics to collect and review data from our visitors in order to provide the most tailored experience possible.  You can review Google Analytics’ Privacy Policy here.

We may collect certain non-personal information to optimize our goods and services including the functionality of our website (e.g., the identity of your Internet browser, the type of operating system you use, your IP address and/or device information.  We may use such non-personal information for internal purposes, including but not limited to improving the content and usability of our sites and delivery of our services.

We may use your demographic information to perform business analyses or to tailor our website and communications to your interests. We may share anonymous, aggregated (grouped) demographic information with advertisers and other third parties so that they can tailor their advertisements and communications to the appropriate audience.

Who we share your data with

In this section you should name and list all third party providers with whom you share site data, including partners, cloud-based services, payment processors, and third party service providers, and note what data you share with them and why. Link to their own privacy policies if possible.

By default WordPress does not share any personal data with anyone.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile (includes username, password, email address). Website administrators can see and edit that information with the exception of the username you create.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
